Scenic is a stretch. We only went to the concert venue, perhaps nicer going clear to lavida. I heard service was great on other cars, ours was not. The gal couldn't keep her orders straight. We were told food would be offered all the way back. We tried to place our order (this is lunch at after 3 in the afternoon, mind you) She blew us off first attempt at ordering then told us when we finally got her attention that we may be too late. Took our order, then made it clear they were taking care of the band. She then also talked about how wiped out she was gonna be. So much for that.... we did finally get food. And more whining and bad jokes from the other staff. Music was good, wish we could have driven.
I have done the Rio Grande concert train trips in the past and those were great. Unfortunately this trip was ruined by not getting lunch.
I would have rated this trip higher but our only disappointment was lunch. Our group was scheduled to go to the dinning room at noon with another group scheduled for 11 a.m. The 11 a.m. group still had not been served at noon. When we reached the end of our ride around 1 p.m. the early group was still in the dinning room. Forget lunch!
Very scenic ride about two hours. One on the San Luis Valley flats , one hour in mountains. 50 s style unremodeled cars. Seats comfortable. Lots of assistants to help take drink orders , or help older people. Steep stairs to enter/exit cars.
Great scenery between Ft. Garland and LaVeta! The seating with tables and large windows was a treat. The ride is very nice and relaxing.
This is a very fun trip to take as a date or a family trip. Lots and lots of gorgeous scenery. I highly recommend this to everyone.
We took the train to LaVeta with our family. The service was great, the view was good, and we were very impressed.
