Stopped in for directions and ended up buying some gifts. They have a fantastic place to gather information for your stay in Alamosa and the San Luis Valley. The staff is super knowledgeable and very friendly. but definitely stop in the gift shop and take something home for yourself or a loved one or pick up that forgotten item for your visit.
Took the slow easy train ride from Alamosa to LaVeta and had a terrific time. I was treated like family at the train station and while on board I met a lifetime railroader who gave me a detailed history of trains from the area. Went to the Mardi Gras car on the way back and had a couple of drinks with folks who also enjoy trains. Will probably do it again someday.!
