I had transferred from my university in New Mexico called Eastern New Mexico University to start school in the fall of 2013 at Adams state University. I transferred to the university for the sake of Cross country and track and field. The training and program at adams state for track was fun, at the same time the academics were garbage and the professors at this college are way too damn liberal.. they single and hate you if you are a conservative Christian lol I am. One year of school at this college tuition wise was 25 thousand dollars. Plus I stayed off campus for the first semester and had to move on campus at the end of the first semester. It was so expensive, I could not take out a loan for a meal plan. My major at my college in New Mexico was broadcast Journalism in communications they did not have the required classes at this university for that. So I had to catch up academically to improve my grades in order to come back to Eastern New Mexico University in the fall of 2014. I would not recommend this University if you are wanting to have great academics and professors. Sports wise the atmosphere here is great and on top of that being a runner for track and cross country is great. Academically it sucks and I just hated Alamosa and Adams state. For those of you, who had a terrible experience at Adams state, come to Eastern New Mexico University in Portales. The tuition is cheap and there are a variety of academic scholarships including the wuie and military aid and various scholarships for veined a minority. Are professors are execellent and will help you out as best as they can. Right now I am a grad student working on my masters in communication at Eastern New Mexico University.

This institution needs to review it's policies and cut the red tape. There are many areas of improvement, and opportunity for innovation. I will only mention a few. This institution has a low graduation rate when compared to it's peers, it is probably because they don't help students succeed, and their policies in essence set a student up to fail rather than succeed; often giving students the runaround. Their staff is not knowledgeable and not professional. This could be addressed through professional development programs implemented at all levels of the institution. I wish I would have not wasted my time and money at this institution longer to graduate because of arbitrary administrative policies. There are better educational options for less money! Great improvements to the aesthetics and captures the San Luis Valley's natural beauty. This and a few professors are the only positive thing I can share about my experience. Cut the politics and focus on your students!

It's seems there is always something to complain about, however, this University is not one. Outstanding instructors and administrators that care about the student, not easy to find these days. Big beautiful campus on the west side of the Rockies with breathtaking views. Outstanding academic values and one of the best online Counseling programs.

Good wrestling and track/Cross county programs. The school is primarily a teaching school, but offers course work that will allow anyone to be competitive at larger schools or in the job market. The tuition is low and there are few Master degree options.

Morally base faculty who failed miserably for years to speak up when they should have. Do not let your children attend this school.
